In this video, you will learn the Great Lock Technique, also known as Maha Bandha.
Sit cross-legged with your back straight.
Place your palms on your knees or thighs.
With your mouth closed, take in a deep breath and then empty out your lungs completely.
Rest your chin on the notch between your collar bones in Jalandhara Bandha, the Chin Lock.
Pull in the abdominal organs against the spine and lift the diaphragm, creating a cavity in Uddiyana Bandha, the Abdominal Lock.
Contract the pelvic floor or the region between the anus and navel, pulling it up towards the diaphragm in Mula Bandha, the Root Lock.
Pressing your palms down, hold your breath in complete exhalation with all three Bandhas engaged for as long as you are comfortable.
Release the root lock, then the abdominal lock, and finally the chin lock, inhaling gently to fill your lungs.
Repeat the cycle 5-10 times.
Maha Bandha strengthens the autonomic nervous system and pelvic region.
It also tones the internal organs, promotes the thyroid gland and improves core strength.
You have now learnt Maha Bandha, the Great Lock Technique.
