In this video, you will learn a few exercises to practice shooting.

To improve your shooting skills, here are some exercises to perfect your movements and to work on your accuracy.

First exercise: Shooting while lying down

Lie down on the floor, on your back, take a ball in in your strong hand and position your forearm parallel to the floor.

Now make a shooting action, throwing the ball up in the air with a flick of the wrist. The ball should travel straight up in the air with back spin, and you should catch with the same hand as it falls back down

This exercice will make you practice the wrist movement and your end of the shooting action

Second exercise: Shooting with one hand

Stand beneath the basket, then take a step toward a court boundary line.

Keep your feet shoulder width apart to stay well balanced, and make sure they face the basket

Shoot to score, using only your strong hand

To get the right shooting technique, have a look at our video: " Shooting: How to move".

The ball shouldn't touch the hoop, and should follow a curved trajectory.

After you have shot, move about one metre to the side while staying at the same distance from the basket.

Keep shooting from around the basket, without using your weak hand. This exercise will help you practice your wrist movements as well as getting used to the ball's trajectory.

Third exrcise; Mid-range shooting.

Place yourself one meter behind the key, close to the baseline , with the ball in your hands.

Then try making 5 shots working around the key after passing the ball to yourself

Then step back around one meter further from the basket and repeat the exercice in the other direction.

Finish the exercise with 5 3-point throws.

Count your score and track your progress.

In basketball, good shooting skill requires a lot of practice. Shooting often and with the correct technique is essential so don't give it up! Over to you!
