HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR HIKING POLES
In this video you will learn how to look after your hiking poles. As with the rest of your hiking gear, you just need to remember a few very simple things to ensure they last for a long time.
To look after your poles, follow these three steps: take the poles to pieces, clean them and dry them.
First of all, take the poles to pieces. After a weekend hike or a few weeks of short hikes, it is a a good idea to take the poles to pieces so as to clean them.
Separate each section of the pole. This will depend on the type of poles you have, so we recommend referring to the manufacturer's instructions.
Secondly, clean the poles.
Using a small brush and a little bit of water, clean the poles to remove dust and any residue which might be preventing you from adjusting them.
Thirdly, dry the poles. Once you have finished cleaning, dry the poles with a dry cloth and leave them somewhere dry and well ventilated.
Once they are dry, you can put them back together. We advise against using a drop of oil, which can make the poles slippery and therefore dangerous.
In short, to care for your poles, disassemble them, clean them and dry them. Now over to you!
