In this video, you will learn what action to take in the event of a house fire.
There are 2 possible scenarios:
Scenario 1: the fire is coming from outside your home:
Call the fire services as quickly as you can
Close all doors and seal the gap between the bottom of the door and floor with wet cloth.
If possible, turn off the gas from the mains
Stand by the window, so that the fire services can see you.
Only open the windows if the fire services tell you to.
Don’t go out into the stairwell and definitely do not use the lift
Scenario 2: The fire is inside your home
Try to put the fire out using wet cloths, an extinguisher or a lid if it is a kitchen pan that is on fire.
If there is smoke in the room, get down close to the floor and cover your mouth and nose with a wet cloth.
Close the door to the room where the fire is situated
If possible, turn off the gas at the mains.
Call the fire services as quickly as possible
Get everyone out and don’t forget to alert your neighbours.
Do not use the elevator
