In this video, you're going to learn how to warm up your upper body.

This helps improve its stabilising role which increases your momentum mid-stride.

We are going to look at how to warm up your upper body: your back, your arms, your shoulders and your neck.

Firstly, your back.

Stand up and rest your chin on your chest.

Hold your arms out in front of you and lace your fingers together with your palms facing forward.

Stretch as far as you can.

Hold that position for 8 seconds then relax.

Then, bend your arms and raise them up while stretching them out.

Repeat this 8 times.

Secondly, your arms and your shoulders.

Raise your right arm and bend your elbow back.

With your left hand, hold your right elbow and pull it towards the left.

Hold that position for 8 seconds then relax.

Then do 10 windmills with your arm in one direction, then the other.

Do this exercise again but with your left arm this time.

Thirdly, your neck.

Stand up, your arms alongside your body.

Stretch your neck by tilting your head to the right for a few seconds, then relax and do the same again but to the left, forwards and backwards.

Then rotate your head in one direction and then switch directions.

You now know how to warm up your upper body before running. Have a good training session!
