"Orange Blossom Honey" by Lawrence Blatt
In this video, we'll learn how to make a chest, or trunk, with wooden pallets.
We will need 3 pallets, 2 4cmx4cmx3m wooden battens, a measuring tape, a try square, a pencil, a saw, protective gloves, a hand sander, fine and medium grit sandpaper, an electric screwdriver, 50mm and 15mm wood screws and hinges,
In this example we'll make a measuring 80cm long, by 50cm wide by 50cm high chest.
Start by dismantling the pallets. To learn more about this watch the video "How to dismantle a pallet".
Measure and cut the planks.
Here we will need about 12 84cm planks
and 4x50cm wooden battens to make the frame of the chest.
Sand all the planks
We will now make the front side and back faces of the chest.
Fix 2 50cm battens onto both edges of 5 x 80cm planks
You've finished the front face
Do the same for the back face.
Now combine the front and back faces with 50cm planks for the sides
Screw 6x84cm planks on the bottom of the chest.
We will now move on to the lid of the chest.
Prepare 2x40cm battens.
Screw them perpendicularly to 6x84cm planks, leave a 10cm margin from the edges
Place and fix a hinge 10centimetres from each side and add one in the middle.
Fix the lid to the chest
To facilitate opening the chest, you can put a handle on it.
Your chest is now finished
