In this tutorial, you will learn how to make daal fry. Dal Fry is a spicy punjabi dish made from mixed dals like toor, chana, moong, masoor dal or just with chana and toor dal.

Ingredients:
• 1 cup yellow pigeon peas (toor dal)
• 1 tsp cumin seeds
• 1 tsp mustard seeds
• 1/2 asafoetida
• 1 tsp turmeric powder
• 1 tsp chili powder (optional)
• 2 finely-chopped green chillies
• salt
• 1 finely-chopped tomato
• 2 small finely-chopped onions
• 1/2 tsp finely-chopped garlic
• 1/2 tsp grated ginger
• 1/2 tsp lemon juice
• finely-chopped coriander leaves

Wash one cup of yellow pigeon peas (toor dal)

and add 3 cups of water

add the tomatoes to the pan and cook them until they are tender

Next, add the lentils, you can also add a bit of hot water, depending on how thick you like your sauce

boil the lentils and let them simmer for 5 minutes

add some lemon for taste and garnish it with coriander leaves

toor daal is served hot with rice of chapatis
