Stretching your quadriceps

In this video, you will learn how to stretch your quadriceps properly.

The quadriceps is the muscle at the front of the thigh. It is the muscle which supports most of our weight and allows us to move.

Stand with your feet together, and support yourself against a wall, a post, or a tree to keep your balance.

Bend the leg you wish to stretch, and grab your foot

Lift your foot upwards, making sure that your thigh remains vertical.

Hold for twenty seconds.

For a deeper stretch, you can pull your leg backwards.

Make sure that the leg you are stretching stays in line with the supporting leg.

Stretching out to the side is not good for the knees.

This stretch is the most basic, but also the most effective for power walking.

Change legs and repeat the exercise.

Have a go at this exercise, taking your time.
