Take a square sheet of paper and fold it in half.

This origami has many folds. Be sure to fold all creases properly to make the remaining folds easier.

Open it.

Flip the sheet over and fold the corner into the center line like so.

Repeat for the other side.

Flip the sheet over.

Now fold this point like this.

Crease it well here.

Open it, then repeat for the other side.

Then fold the point here along the center line.

You can see the creases line up here, and here as well.

Open it.

Now put this part here, and that part there.

Fold and close it to get a square, like so.

Now we will fold this part onto the center line.

Repeat for the other side.

Unfold the last two folds, and open the middle part like this.

Now fold both sides inward. This part here, and that part there.

This fold is found in many origami designs.

Crease it well.

Now open here, pull this end, and open it this way.

Repeat for the other side.

You'll get this square shape in the center.

The next fold is more complicated.

Fold this edge over that edge.

This part prevents you from folding completely.

There's a little strain here but that's ok.

Fold the top, then the bottom.

Repeat exactly the same thing on the other side.

Now we will fold here, like this.

Then open this part.

You have two little pockets.

Then close it.

Now open the upper pocket, and, using this very common fold, fold it into itself.

By lifting this part, you should have this shape.

Repeat for the lower pocket.

Fold once to make the creases properly.

Then fold it inward like this.

Now that you have this shape, turn the origami over.

Then fold the top of the triangle as much as possible.

Now we will create the head.

Fold this part like this, along this line.

Repeat in the other direction.

Fold downward.

Then, while lifting it up, fold both sides in like this.

Open this part and fold it again while keeping the bottom fold intact.

You should now have the shape of a head.

Now fold the upper tip like this.

Fold it inside the head, placing it behind the other creases so that it stays.

Flip the origami over to make the ears.

Lift this point up and fold it slightly to the side like this.

Repeat for the other side. They must be the same length.

Your bat's head is done.

Fold this part in to refine the body.

Repeat for the other side.

Now we'll make the wings.

Fold the wing to the center line.

Repeat for the other side.

Open it.

Now fold the middle.

You have the first part of the bat wing.

Repeat for the other side.

It should look like this.

Now fold it onto the center line.

Repeat for the other side.

Make a small accordion fold here, leaving a small space.

Then fold the tip like this.

Fold it in the opposite direction, leaving a small space.

Create a dent in the wing tip, like this.

Fold a little here to curve the wing.

Then make a dent here.

You have finished your first wing.

Repeat for the other side.

You have finished your origami bat!
