In this video you’ll learn how to hem the sleeves and attach them to the body of a Kurti.

To learn how to stitch the shoulder seams, watch the previous video.

Spread out the pieces of fabric cut for the sleeves on top of the table.

We will start by hemming the ends of the sleeves.

To do this, fold the fabric inward at the notch that marks the hemline of the sleeve.

Remember to finger press the fold to set a crease.

Now, tuck the raw end of the fabric inward to make a double fold, as shown.

When you are done, place one end of the fold under the needle and start stitching.

If you don’t feel confident maintaining the alignment with your hand, pin the fold before stitching.

Keep folding as you proceed.

Stitch off the edge when you reach the end and repeat the same process to stitch a hem for the second sleeve.

Repeat the process on the second sleeve.

You are now ready to stitch the sleeve to the body, along the armhole.

Open and spread out the garment on the table with the facing side up.

Align the raw edge along the armhole to that of the first sleeve.

Keep track of the three notches for guidance.

Leaving a seam allowance of half an inch, start stitching the pieces together along the armhole.

Keep adjusting the edge of the sleeve to the curve in the armhole.

When you reach the other end of the armhole at the notch, stitch off the edge and cut the thread.

Verify the consistency of the stitch along the seam and repeat the same process again to stitch the second sleeve.

Repeat the same process with the second sleeve.

You have now learned how to stitch sleeves to the body of a Kurti.

Watch the next video to learn how to stitch the side seams.
