Floating on your stomach

In this video, you are going to learn how to float on your stomach. Learning to float on your stomach is an essential step; it's the starting position for several swimming strokes, such as the breaststroke, the front crawl or the butterfly stroke.

For this exercise, you will need 2 foam pool noodles.

For safety reasons, we advice you to attempt this exercise in the presence of another person.

We are going to split this video into two steps: first floating using 2 pool noodles, then floating without any swimming aids

First of all, the positioning of the stomach. Get into a standing position in a pool where your feet can touch the bottom. Hold a noodle in each hand.

Spread out your arms to get your balance. Breath in deeply and hold your breath.

Lower yourself slowly until your face is in the water.

Push off and slowly extend your legs behind you until you are lying flat on your stomach.

Now, we are going to do the same exercise without the pool noodles. Get into a standing position in the pool.

Take a deep breath and hold it. Spread your arms to keep your balance.

Lower yourself slowly until your face is in the water.

Push off and slowly extend your legs behind you until you are lying flat on your stomach.

Relax the back of your neck and your shoulders and let the water carry you. Without any swimming movements, your legs will sink down naturally because of their weight.

To float on your stomach, first lie flat on the water, then spread your arms and legs. Off you go!
