In this video, you’re going to learn an exercise which will enable you to improve your balance with the help of a partner.

Check your physical fitness with a doctor beforehand

The goal of this task is to stimulate your postural reflexes when walking, these are essential in the preservation of your independence, as well in preventing falls.

This exercise is composed of two stages: the positioning, and then movement.

Firstly, positioning.

The older adult should be Standing, about 40cm behind your partner.

Secondly, movement.

The partner leader should move around randomly

The older adult must shadow partner, copying exactly their movements.

Be careful not to be too fast with your movements.

Don’t hesitate to stop, change the rhythm of the walk or change directionto maximise the older person's workout.

Continue moving about for 2 minutes.

The older adult should make sure to keep their back straight

Gradually after several days of practice, you’ll be able to do this while looking forward, rather than at your feet.

By regularly repeating the exercise you’ll benefit from increased stability, giving you more independence.

Over to you!
