Help the Favela Surf Clube teach children to surf
We want to help the Favela Surf Clube teach children to surf whilst showing them the values of living in a community and being part of society.
About the organization
The Favela Surf Clube was founded 25 years ago in Arpoador, Rio de Janeiro, by Alexandre de Silva, Rogerio Silva and Thyola. This projet was born from a need to give the young people Favela de Cantagalo access to surfing and surfboards through collecting both donations and surfing equipment. To date, thousands of children have passed through this small surf school, including surf champion, Carioca Anderson Picachu. The current instructors were among the first students, and have taken up the baton. Through this project, Sikana aims to reinforce the learning resources used for teaching surfing and provide more tools for new instructors keen to get involved.
