How to Lay vinyl Plank Flooring.

In this video you're going to learn how to lay vynil plank flooring.

Vynil planks are plastic boards covered with a finishing coat often designed to mimic the appearance of wood.

Vynils planks can withstand a large amount of weight and are resistant to the shocks and hazards of daily life. There are even antislip models, ideal for bathrooms,as we show here, since they are resistant to humidity and are very easy to clean. They are laid using the same method as parquet or laminate flooring.

In addition to these benefits, they are easy to cut to size using a boxcutter. To lay the flooring you will need: Vynil panks, a measuring tape, a pencil, a rubber mallet, a trysquare, spacer wedges, and a profile gauge.

It is recommended to let the vinyl planks rest in the room for 2 or 3 days

It is recommended to leave the vynil planks in the room for 2 or 3 days so that they expandor retract according to the humidity in the room. Laying a vynil plank flooring is done in 2 steps

Step 1: Preparation

Start by sweeping the floor with a broom or a vacuum to remove dust and dirt

Calcute the surface to cover and the number of planks neeeded, add a 10% margin for cuttings and adjustments

Step 2: Lay the Vinyl plank flooring

Start by placing the spacer wedges along the wall, place the first plank in the corner nearest to the door

place the first plank dug side facing the wall so that the following planks can be easily clicked into place thanks to their tongue and groove locking system

Slot the next plank by inserting it at a 30 degrees angle, then press it on the floors, use the rubber mallet to fix the planks together.

Once you reach the end of a row, you'll have to cut the final plank so that it fits snugly in place

Overlap the final board onto the previous one and then turn it over. Draw a mark on the part which overlaps. Draw the line to cut along, you can use a cutter and then split the planks on the mark you have made

To begin the second row cut the first plank in half so that it is staggered to the first row. To do this, measure and mark the halfway point of the plank, with the and trysquare, then cut.

Lay the half plank the cut side against the wall to ensure the following planks will be perfectly aligned. Here we lay the planks in staggered rows, also known as a quincunx pattern, to avoid leaving any space between the joints. The flooring can be laid, in more intricate or more simpler patterns, according to your tastes

Begin the third row with a whole plank, then lay the rest of the flooring following this staggered quincunx pattern.

For complex and precise cutting, as for the doorframe area, use a profile gauge (sometimes called a contour gauge)

Always place the cut side of the planks against the walls, and lay the planks according to the shape of the room

For the last row, cut the planks along their length and lay them using the same method as the others.
