Upcycling: making a desk from pallet wood
In this video, you will learn how to make a desk using pallet wood.
You will need:
Two pallets, a pair of work gloves, a measuring tape, a try square, a pencil, a handsaw, a sander, some medium-grit and fine-grit sandpaper, a drill/driver and some wood screws.
In this example, we will make a desk that measures 120cm (48") wide and 80cm (32") tall.
Step 1: Start by removing two planks from one of the pallets.
Put them aside.
Remove two more planks from the other pallet. These will provide the structure for your desk.
Step 2: Saw one of the planks into three smaller ones of around 35cm (14") in length.
Step 3: Now sand the whole pallet and the separate planks.
Step 4: Screw the three 35cm (14") boards perpendicularly to the stringer boards.
Step 5: Fix the three 120cm (48") planks on the short boards attached in the previous step.
Step 6: Attach some angle brackets in order to fasten the desk to a wall and prevent it from toppling over.
Your desk is now complete!
