Dental trauma

There are three scenarios to consider:

1 – The tooth has fallen out completely

Scenario 1: the tooth has been knocked completely out of the gum:

- Do not try to replant the tooth yourself.

1 - Rinse

- Have the casualty rinse out their mouth with drinking water.

2 - Apply pressure to the gum

- Stop the bleeding by applying pressure to the gum with a sterile gauze pad.

3 – Preserve the tooth

- Hold the tooth by the crown, not by the root, which still contains living cells.

- Put the tooth in saline solution or, failing that, milk.

4 – See a dentist immediately

- Get the casualty to a dentist as quickly as possible.

The quicker you act, the better the chances of saving the tooth!

2 – The tooth has moved but is still intact

Scenario 2: the tooth has been knocked out of position, but is still in the gum:

1 – Do no move the tooth

- Leave the tooth as close as possible to its initial position.

2 – See a dentist immediately

Take the victim to a dentist as quickly as possible

The quicker you act, the better the chances of saving the tooth!

3 – The tooth is broken or chipped
