For the second part of this pottery tutorial, we will show you how to prepare the clay for sculpting once it is ready
The most important step, is to remove the air bubbles
If they clay still has air bubbles when it is put into the oven, the air will escape causing the sculpture to break
Removing the air bubbles is a simple but lengthy process
First, cut the clay in a triangle shape using a wire.
The idea is to cut the upper part, leaving the lower part in a triangle shape, and then crushing the upper part onto the lower part
Here you can see there are some holes
These are air bubbles inside the clay
By pressing the lower part with the upper part, the air will escape.. like this
If we cut it flat, the air will not escape
This step can be a bit time consuming, but it is important
After cutting a few times without seeing any air bubbles, It is ready !
