English-Speaking Assistant Project Manager

Job description

Sikana is looking for a passionate individual who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and multicultural, multilingual working environment.  Under the supervision of the English Language Project Manager, you will manage and animate a global, online community of translators and volunteers and will be responsible for the first steps of the production (translation and voice-over (VO) recording) of our tutorials in English.   


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

  • Translation project management: quality control of our script translated into English while respecting any deadlines: to validate translations proposed by our volunteers and assist in the VO recording process. Translate tutorial scripts from French to English when required.
  • Volunteer Community Animation and Recruitment: identify and recruit new translation volunteers, online and offline; find new ways of keeping our community alive, motivated and engaged; draft and send newsletters, respond to their queries, provide feedback on translations and words of thanks for effort.
  • Community Development, Social Media Management & Diffusion: assist in the creation and implementation of Social Media content, explore new means of diffusion for our content in the anglophone world. Raise the public profile of Sikana; establish ties with in-the-field NGOs, schools, associations etc. to see that our videos are put into the hands of those who might benefit from them the most.  

Qualifying Skills & Experience

Skills required

  • English mother tongue essential.  The ideal candidate will have good writing skills and an excellent command of the French language. Past experience  working of studying with languages and/or translation appreciated.
  • You are able to inspire and motivate a team to deliver results (proven track record of managing a team on a project). You are creative and feel comfortable taking the initiative and working along, or as part of a small team when necessary.
  • Outgoing and comfortable contacting new potential partner associations.
  • You share our passion to make education accessible to every individual and believe that our vision can change the world
  • Understanding of social media management. SEO experience a plus.
  • Computer skills: MS Office Pack, Google Docs and Sheets, knowledge of Google AdWords appreciated
